She leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes...

Happy 4th of July! Since Facebook and Instagram went down today, I resorted to writing up a blog post on hair and makeup ideas for the 4th (or any other red, white & blue holiday for that matter).

Any holiday is a great excuse for a little extra glam or to try something new in my book...

Glitter is my favorite color! What better holiday to add a little glitter to the eye than America's Birthday?! Here are two of my favorite glitters. MAC Dazzleshadow in the shade "Every day is Sunshine." This one is more of a full coverage shadow with sparkle in it. Stila Magnificent Metals in the shade "Diamond Dust." This one is a sheer glitter that gives off some serious sparkle. I like to pop these on the inner corner of my lid.

Next up, DUH, a red lip! I bet you were expecting this one. It's funny, I wore this red lip (below) while we were out in Vegas and my girlfriend said, "I'm pretty sure Jodi is the only one that can pull that off." Sweet of her to say, but WRONG - haha! Anyone can pull off a red lip. Not all reds are created equal. You have to find the right red for you. I have also heard, "I can't wear red lipstick, it makes my teeth look yellow." To that I say, "WHAAAAA?" - In my Minions voice (all of my mom readers get that little joke). My teeth look the whitest when I wear red liptstick. You want to find a red lipstick with a blue under tone to really make your teeth GLOW! This Colour Pop Cosmetics liquid lip in the shade "Creeper" is my current fave and has been for a while. It's seriously the perfect red and you cannot beat the price! P.S. This is also the red lip I like to wear at Christmas time!

For hair, I'm all about the accessories! Give me a cute hat, a bow, or anything of the sort. I'm still loving this scrunchie trend. You can wear these a hundred different ways. This star scrunchie came in a set with a red stripe scrunchie paired with it from American Eagle.

Last year's hair accessory was this bandana (pictured below). Does anyone remember the photo I posted last year? I tied my HALOCOUTURE Hair Extensions around my pony tail to make my hair super long and secured it with this bandana. Bandanas are another accessory with endlesss styling options. You can find themed ones at War Mart, among other places, for $1!

Another great hair option for this holiday is braids! Especially if you're headed to the pool or the beach. Fight the tangles by rocking some cute braids. Then take them out at night before the fireworks for some serious mermaid vibes.

I love the holidays and playing dress up is of course one of the main reasons. We always find cute festive gear at Target, Old Navy, and Party City to name a few. I hope you all have a fun, safe and festive holiday. Send me photos of your cute holiday looks!

Cheers to being Young, Wild & FREE! ;)
